DSS Release Notes 2008-08-28 v5.0 up47 build3216 (Montgomery) FIXED: • Mechanism for managing FILE-IO LUN size (iSCSI and FC volume). The patch thus fixes the problem with file I/O initialization stuck with the "waiting" status. 2008-08-07 v5.0 up47 build3178 (Montgomery) Important note: • If downgrading and using volume replication, it will be necessary to clear the metadata on each volume using the replication function. • Volume Replication is not backwards compatible and only works with version 5.0 build 3007 or higher. • Please note that it is not recommended to use NIC's with different chipsets in one or many Bond scenario’s. NEW: • New DEFAULT Kernel 6.25.13 (32 bit and 64 bit mode) There is also the possibility to use the previous DEFAULT kernel, 6.17.13 (in 32 bit or 64 bit mode). This can be done by accessing the console, pressing CTRL+ALT+T and following this path: Boot options -> Select system architecture. The previous DEFAULT kernel is marked as (BACKUP). • NDMP Data & Tape server • Group Quota’s • UPnP service • Auto labeling tape with barcode or without barcode • Restore License agreement This function forces the user to reaccept the license. Invoking this function will cause the system to shutdown USAGE: Add the script name for the function (restorelicense.php) to the server IP in your browser's address field, e.g. https://192.168.0.220/restorelicense.php • WORM (Write once read many) Write Once Read Many - this option is available for NAS volumes only. WORM-enabled volumes can be read multiple times, but written to only once. Enabling WORM for a NAS volume is only possible after selecting new NAS volume from the drop-down menu. Once WORM is enabled it cannot be undone. It is not possible to remove WORM from an existing volume. WORM volumes are subject to the following limitations: they cannot be used for volume replication, • A share created on a WORM volume cannot be used as a destination share in a data replication process. • A share created on a WORM volume cannot be published via NFS and cannot be accessed via HTTP (HTTP share access function). • A share created on a WORM volume cannot be used as an antivirus quarantine share. • A share created on a WORM volume cannot host a local backup database. UPDATED: • Apache server (v2.2) FIXED: • Changing workgroup name leads to loss of user groups KNOWN ISSUES: • Qlogic 24xx - Changes made to groups on the target side are not immediately visible - they require the target to be restarted. • After system update, QLOGIC HBA FC stops working in target mode. To restore this functionality, please restart the system. • MPIO mode for the QLOGIC HBA FC does not work in the DEFAULT kernel. Please switch to the BACKUP kernel to use this mode. • Chelsio 10Ge must be updated to latest firmware, otherwise it prompts no-cable error. • 64bit system configuration is not preserved after update. If you use 64bit system, please change 32bit to 64bit manually. When system boots after POST (Power on Self Test), please press the ESC or TAB key in order to enter into the Boot menu. Please select 64bit system. Once the system is up and running please press "hot-key" CTRL+ALT+T in the system Console and then select: Boot options-->Select system architecture, use the spacebar to mark the desired 64bit system and Apply. Then select Save changes to make this permanent. • Replication of volumes is not working between 32 and 64bit versions. • Myricom is not working when using the DEFAULT kernel 64bit operating mode. • Myricom is not working when using the BACKUP kernel 32 and 64 bit operating modes. • In case of problems with running the "Repair File system" function please disable all running tasks, including Snapshot, Data Replication and Backup through Web GUI. • Overfilling of Snapshot used for backup is reported only on virtual backup device. • Rescan function is not working properly - in case of resizing storage connected via iSCSI Initiator, after rescan changes will be not visible. In such case please restart the system. • LSI Logic Console tool for configuration of RAID controllers is not working under BACKUP or DEFAULT 64bit operating modes (with 32bit kernel tool works correctly). • LSI RAID Migration function from within the GUI does not work for RAID 5 or 6. This will be fixed in next release. • iSCSI Failover does not work. PLEASE do not update if you run iSCSI Failover. This will be fixed in next release. • The system does not run stable when using the built-in iSCSI Initiator in conjunction with a Chelsio network interface card. • Accusys does not work under DEFAULT kernel. • After restarting a server with AppleTalk function enabled and an ADS or PDC domain connection, the AppleTalk status will always read "failed." To remedy this, please reset the AppleTalk daemon by going to GUI then Configuration -> NAS Settings –> AppleTalk (AFP) Settings, un-checking the Use AppleTalk (AFP) box by clicking the Apply button and checking the box again to Apply again. • ATTO FC/SATA does not work under DEFAULT kernel. • Marvell SATA does not work under DEFAULT kernel. • In 64bit system mode VERITAS backup agent is not working. Please do not switch to 64bit system if you are going to use VERITAS backup agent. • VERITAS backup agent works only with old VERITAS Backup Exec up to version 10. It does not work with SYMANTEC Backup Exec. • Neteffect does not work under BACKUP kernel • Share created on a WORM volume cannot be published via Appletalk.
